I’m Michaela, a teacher-turned-therapist who is passionate about supporting mums…oh, and I’m not currently a mother.
I understand if this is a deal-breaker for you, lived-experience is useful, you may say ‘how can I know what it’s like?’…and that’s a valid point. I can’t know exactly what your experience is like.
What I do bring instead is deep empathetic understanding through my knowledge and experience as a specialist mother’s therapist, a former nanny and primary school teacher, and aunty to 2 beautiful children…as well as my own personal experience of many of the issues mothers face such as chronic stress, burnout, anxiety, depression and loss.
Hello…
Whilst we are all unique, in my private practice, The Women’s Therapist, time and again I see mothers with common struggles - in my 1:1 therapy with mums, part of the work involves psychoeducation so that they can better understand themselves and their experiences, as well as exploring tools and coping strategies they could implement (that don’t involve adding to your mental load!).
Raising Mum™ was born from my desire to get this packaged up into affordable, accessible and non-overwhelming self-help to as many mums as possible, not just those in therapy.
Whether that’s through the honest conversations on my growing online community @mentalwellbeinginmotherhood on Instagram, live workshops, on-demand mini courses, or talks.
Everything I do is informed by the Raising Mum™ Framework…
An integrative approach that blends evidence-based attachment theory, transactional analysis, inner child therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, neuroscience and nervous system regulation - for a holistic view of you.
